Established in 1958, Shandong Electric Power Engineering Consulting Institute Corp., Ltd. (SDEPCI), a subsidiary of State Power Investment Corporation Limited (SPIC), is China's only engineering institute with EPC performance in 1000 MW thermal power projects, conventional islands of third-generation nuclear power projects, and AC/DC UHV power transmission projects at home and abroad.
SDEPCI has obtained the Class-A Qualification for Comprehensive Project Engineering, the industry's highest qualification in China, and the First Class EPC Contracting Qualification for Electric Power Projects, and has seven business segments including thermal power, new energy, power grid, nuclear power, smart energy, water conservancy and hydropower, and ecological and environmental protection, and eight business fields including planning, consulting, surveying, design, EPC contracting, lifecycle service, technology research and development, and investment, with the ability to provide clients with the whole industry chain services.
SDEPCI has a team of experts led by national and industrial masters, with the number and quality of its talents leading in the industry, and its business covers 33 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the central government) and more than 40 countries and regions around the world. SDEPCI has a total of 1,643 staff members, including 11 national, industrial and provincial level survey and design masters, 2 experts enjoying special government allowances from the State Council, 2 young experts with outstanding contributions to Shandong Province, 619 people with nationally registered qualifications, 80 provincial and ministerial level experts and talents, and 848 people with senior professional titles.
As an expert energy think tank in Shandong Province, SDEPCI has made more than 100 plans for Shandong Province, such as power industry planning, medium- and long-term energy planning, special planning for power grid, wind power, and distributed energy resources, and regional planning for the Shandong Peninsula Blue Economic Zone and the Yellow River Delta. Entrusted by Energy Administration of Shandong Province, SDEPCI has prepared and officially released many plans, such as the Fourteenth Five-Year Plan for Energy Development in Shandong Province.
SDEPCI has designed thermal power projects with a total installed capacity of more than 100 GW, which accounts for about 1/12 of the total installed thermal power capacity in China. SDEPCI had its designed projects put into operation with a total installed capacity of more than 10 GW in 2015 and 2016, respectively, ranking the first in the industry in China. Laiwu1000 MW Thermal Power Project with 620℃ secondary reheating technology led the world, and DatangYuncheng Thermal Power Project with 630℃ secondary reheating technology passed the evaluation of the National Energy Administration with the first top score and was listed as the only major demonstration project of energy technology during the 13th Five-Year Plan.
SDEPCI started the EPC contracting business as the earliest in the industry and has established a design-led EPC contracting management model, integrated engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning, and established a complete risk control system covering safety, quality, schedule and cost after years of exploration. SDEPCI has won 2 National Golden Key Awards, 7 National Silver Key Awards and 6 National Bronze Key Awards for EPC projects, with the number of Golden Key Awards and the total number of awards ranking the first in China's power survey and design industry.
SDEPCI has established a sci-tech R&D system with enterprise as the main body, market as the guide, and a combination of industry, academia and research, covering 10 technical fields, 48 disciplines and 145 subject directions, and has 17 technology R&D centers, and has won 142 provincial and ministerial-level or above sci-tech progress awards, 387 patents and 167 software copyrights, ranking the first in the industry in terms of quantity and quality of sci-tech achievements. Since 2008, SDEPCI has received more than 1,000 technology and engineering awards at the provincial and ministerial level and above, ranking the first in the industry in terms of quantity and quality.
SDEPCI has been ranked among China's top 60 engineering design companies and China's top 80 contractors by ENR four times. In 2019, SDEPCI was ranked among the top 250 international contractors by ENR for the first time (ranked 182nd), and was awarded as one of the 100 meritorious enterprises in the engineering construction industry in the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, and designated as a Sample Enterprise of China's Foreign Trade Export Pilot Index by the General Administration of Customs.
